Are you an HSP?

Back in March and April I had the privilege to go through Elaine Aron’s book “The Highly Sensitive Person” book with my Uncle after he called and asked if I knew what an HSP was?

Of course, curious me was like “um… No, tell me more.”

So I googled it to find out more information about it. In my search I discovered that there was an online test and found out I was like 18 of the 27 questions.

It was fun to go through this book with my uncle who was doing research for a presentation he was putting together. As he was going through the book, he started making a list of people he knew he thought might be HSP. We spent the next two months going through chapters and taking copius notes. We scheduled several zoom calls to catch up on findings where we covered childhood experiences, trauma and going over Elaine’s research and the impact certain events had in shaping who I am.

A few weeks ago, I had found that there is a documentary about Elaine’s work on Amazon Prime titled “Sensitive: The Untold Story”.

It’s about an hour long and a great intro or companion piece if you are curious to find more about HSP’s and if you might be one.

I think there is freedom and empowerment in peeling back the layers to learn the “what” and “why’s” on how my body and being respond to certain people and situations especially  when it comes to breaking the cycles and patterns that are wired within me.

As one who has wrestled with a low-grade anxiety for as long as I can remember, it was refreshing to understand the why’s behind that and learn to hold every thought captive and train my mind that its ok, to have all things feelings, that there is nothing wrong with me, that I am more than enough and that I was created this way help make this world a better place.

There’s a lot of great info in there so if you are curious, I encourage you to at least watch the video and see if anything resonates.
