Here is the latest single cover key art for my sweet and very talented, singer, song-writer friend Michelle Lynn Thompson.
This love letter is a collection that chronicles the journey of the song from the writer’s demo vocal, to worktapes, instrumental, and ultimately the full production with Michelle’s vocal. (Written by John A. Mulder, this song was finished in his honor and released with his wife Lisa’s blessing).
BACKSTORY:
This “album” is a love letter and tribute to my friend, John A. Mulder. He was a champion of my music, a constant encourager, and always one of the first on Bandcamp to purchase my songs every single time.
John wrote “I Love The Way You Love Me” and invited me to sing it years ago. He got to hear my vocal but passed away before we added the trombone he had hoped for. I think he’d be so pleased to have Haik Demirchian of Broadway’s Hadestown on it.
This collection chronicles the songs journey and includes John’s original vocal demo, our voice memo work tape, the piano vocal/trombone version I first finished and then a full version that includes files of bass and drums that I found in his archives. My hope is that the listener will feel as though they spent some time with us as the song came along.
Proceeds of this recording will benefit Faith Hospice where John dedicated so much of his life to serving patients and their families with love and compassion. If you have my song, Riptide, John was a co-writer on that and plays the acoustic guitar on the recording. He was a true gem and we miss him dearly.
