This drippy, pulled paint on layered gesso reminds me of the view of the warm sun melting the frozen landscape as its coming up over the horizon.
painted this sometime back in 2002-2003. For so many years, photography was my main creative outlet. Specifically black and white and sepia toned landscapes were my thing.
They represented all the abandonment and insecurities I felt so I wanted to explore what healing might feel like. The deep blues hues in the lower portion represent a sense or state of emotional frozenness that I’ve carried for so many years. The rich warm orange-yellow hues represent the sun and God’s love. In a present sense, it’s about His steadfast love and melting away all those inner voices that have whispered and screamed, YOU’RE NOT ENOUGH!
Looking back all these years later, it still centers me and reminds me of God’s love and faithfulness.
