I find myself on a consistent path of wanting my portraits to reflect the artist and an environment they might have been in when I’m painting them.

Looking for a new legend, I thought back to an album I hadn’t listened to in quite a awhile and figured Miles Davis’s “Kind of Blue” would be a perfect addition to my ICONS & LEGENDS series of portraits.

Like my other portraits, this piece captures a lot of energy in the texture and the tonal shades of the paint.

I really love how the beads of sweat are rolling off the veins in his forehead, the way the light plays off his hair and the over all feeling he is putting everything he has into his music.

The gradient blue hues transport me to back to a small, low lit, smoke filled jazz club in Harlem in the late 50’s or early 60’s.
Comes with an embossed Certificate of Authenticity.
