This was the next colorful painting I did after wrapping up the RAY! portrait. I wanted to create something bright, iconic and hopeful. The Statue of Liberty has long been a symbol of freedom and hope for so many over the years. She’s been a beacon of light and hope even in the darkest times.
I imagined some of my ancestors entering New York’s harbor by boat at sunset and seeing this towering symbol and finally feeling like they found a place to call home.
The flock of birds represents our diversity and freedom as a nation.
This like all my pieces are gallery wrapped canvases with finished edges.
