Artist’s Bio:

K. Randall Wilcox has worked professionally as a graphic designer for more than 20 years, but his passion lies in the fine arts. What began as a hobby of photography grew into a passion and an artistic outlet. His influences include great painters such as Rauschenberg, Warhol, and Pollock, as well as photographers Stieglitz, Cartier-Bresson, Sudek and Brassai. Inspired by these artists, Wilcox seeks to illuminate the layers and contrasts inherent our environment. After shooting for over a decade, Wilcox began painting and is now exploring other types of mixed media expressions.Travel is one of the great enjoyments in life for Wilcox. Whether it is the desert, Prague, Budapest, Mexico, Istanbul, Cuba, urban United States or the Boneyard of old neon signs in Las Vegas, he loves to shoot and experiment with texture. Where others find decay, he sees character. Wilcox received his BA in Art from Cal State Northridge in 1991, and is the founder and partner of Once Blind Studios, a boutique graphic design studio specializing in brand design and heritage-themed products.

Education:

BA in Two-Dimensional Art: Cal State University, Northridge, 1991“I believe that art is about documenting life from a different perspective that others might not see or experience. It’s about finding inspiration in subtle surroundings, such as the beauty in an old weathered door or storm clouds creeping over the mountain. Along this journey we adapt, grow, and hopefully find our way.”

Meet My Artist Rep Heather:

Heather Floyd Swann has an extensive background in the arts. She has worked in arts advocacy, non-profit, education, live music and event planning. While in D.C., Heather taught ballet, sat on panels for a non-profit theater company, created choreography for Fringe Festival and planned photography and art exhibits and events for a non-profit art therapy and community development program, Freedom in Creation and was involved in a host of other arts events, both planning, writing and developing programs for many different organizations. When she moved to Nashville, Heather led education tours at the Country Music Hall of Fame and conducted interviews with music legends and presented live events for independent artists through her project, Storytellers Nashville.

Heather and Randy first connected in Nashville through Storytellers Nashville and they collaborated on her branding, website and promo materials. Heather has a deep passion for the arts and for how art connects people through story. She and Randy’s friendship developed through mutual love of the arts and artists and a belief that art has the power to connect people and that through art, we heal ourselves and our communities. Heather has long been a sounding board for ideas and inspiration and is excited to step into a more formal role of assisting Randy in representing his art and seeking out new opportunities to share his work with the world.
