Born out of a feeling and space of tiredness that this pandemic has been for so many. Willie is an enduring story of achievements, loss and crazy success over his lifetime as a musician and an artist. It only seems befitting for him to be the fifth portrait in this series I’ve titled Icons and legends.
In the same vein as the previous paintings, it is a bold, edgy, street style look with lots of tonal whites, grays and black to give it depth when it catches light. The highlight in this one for me are his deep set eyes. The storm is not over. It has not passed. But we will make it through.
